OFA Dance Program
Participating in the OFA Dance Program has been one of the most intellectually stimulating and enriching parts of my Harvard experience—complementing and expanding beyond my (curricular) field. I’ve benefited deeply from this inclusive and diverse community.
Find a Course
OFA Dance offers an array of non-credit courses that are open to students, Harvard affiliates, and the local community. Courses range across global dance traditions and movement frameworks from ballet and conditioning, to hip-hop, kathak, Soca Fusion, and West African, with levels from beginner to advanced. Taught by professional artists and culture bearers, many courses include live music, and all are open to drop-ins.
Find a Space
The OFA Dance Program is located at the Harvard Dance Center, 66 Garden Street, Cambridge, MA. The Dance Center has three studios used for courses by OFA Dance and the Theater, Dance & Media Department. OFA headquarters at 74 Mt. Auburn St. also houses the Director’s Studio, which can be reserved for dance.
Student Group Resources
In addition to reserving studio space, student-led dance groups can apply for OFA supported dance residencies in the Dance Center and hold informal showings. Students may join one of the many existing student-led dance groups or start their own. OFA also supports students with funding resources and peer mentors.
Special Projects in Research & Performance
Visiting Artists and Residencies
The OFA Dance Program connects with professional artists from a variety of dance disciplines through workshops, conversations, film screenings, student advisement, and Artist Residencies throughout the year as they teach, share, research, and develop new work alongside students. In OFA Open Studios, students and community members are invited to observe and participate in the creative process and engage with the artists.
