Take part in movement labs and research focusing on dance in public spaces.
A year-long pilot initiative where students conduct site-specific movement research in public spaces on/near campus. This first year will be led by artists Kelvin Vu (dancer and urban landscape architect) and Lonnie Stanton (dancer with specialty in site-specific work) who will lead a series of on-site workshops/movement labs throughout the academic year and which will culminate in an end-of-year, on-site performance.
A core cohort of up to 8 Undergraduate Fellows will commit to the full year of movement labs and inquiry-based process, though each individual lab will be open for drop-in movement participation. Previous dance experience is not required for movement participation. Observers will also be welcome.
The program will be using a range of choreographic and cross-disciplinary research methodologies to explore ideas within design and architecture, dance and performance theory, civic engagement, social movements, creative research, and public life.

Apply to be a 2026-2027 Dance in Public Undergraduate Fellow
Up to 8 Undergraduate Fellows will be selected through an open application process. Fellows will participate in a minimum of 8 out of 10 movement labs, an end-of-year showing, and other collaborations that may evolve. Fellows will receive a small stipend, be in collaboration with the Lead Artists, and make use of cross-disciplinary methodologies and inquiry-based processes.
Application Deadline: Tuesday, September 15, 6pm EST
Notifications will be made by Friday, September 18.
Although only 8 Undergraduate Fellows will be selected, lab sessions will be open for all Harvard students to drop into. Capacity will still be limited and Harvard undergraduates will receive priority.
Participate in a Dance in Public Lab
All lab sessions are open for Harvard students, staff, and faculty to drop into, with priority given to Harvard undergraduates. Due to limited capacity, registration is required. Observers are also welcome and registration is not needed.
