Advanced Mold Making

Fall 2026
Dates: September 3 - November 19, 2026 (12 classes with 14 weeks of studio access)
Day/Time: Thursdays, 6:30pm - 9:30pm
Level: Intermediate - Advanced
Instructor: Forrest Sincoff Gard

In this course students will be able to take their mold making abilities to the next level! We will build on plaster and slip casting skills that have been previously learned to continue our mold making journey. Advance Mold Making is designed for those students who have taken Molds and Multiples and/or those who are comfortable mixing and pouring plaster and have previously made molds before. Topics, demos, and instruction will include multi-part molds (3, 4, and more parts), plaster sledging, hollow casting, colored casting slip, mold duplication, and vertical bedding. Additional techniques will be taught to help students increase the size of their work, which will include skim coating with plaster, drain molds with plugs, and embedding flexible tubing into molds. This class will be taught by Forrest Sincoff Gard, who has been working with plaster molds for more than 15 years, during which he has made hundreds of molds and cast thousands of objects.
