Makeda "Keda" Wallace was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, and began her training in liturgical and West African dance at the Reggie Lewis Center. She then trained in hip hop at Body by Brandy with Jay Brown Company. She had an early interest in exploring various hip hop styles from parties and dances of the era like Dancehall, Lite Feet, and Krump. Her training has also included a broad range of dance traditions such as jazz, tap, West African, hip hop, and modern. She starting dancing professionally at OrigiNation Cultural Arts Center at the age of 16 and soon joined the senior company NIA Dance Troupe. Wallace has danced for choreographers such as Vincent Thomas, Sylvia Soumah, Nick Daniels (D.A.N.A. Ensemble), Kenny Ortega, and Tony Testa. Wallace obtained her Pilates Core Mat 1 Certification in 2019 and continues to develop her practice in bikram and vinyasa yoga. She has taught dance and fitness to adults and young children at the Salvation Army Kroc Center, Brookline Public Schools, and Meridian Academy, and is currently a teaching artist at Berklee Prep Academy and the lead instructor/program director for SocaFusion’s Kids Fete classes. Wallace received a Bachelor of Arts degree in the Performing Arts from Dean College. She recently won the Stackin' Stylez 2020 Freestyle Dance Festival.
