Kyle Johns
KyleKyle Johns was born and raised in the Chicagoland area. He originally found his passion for working with clay at Oakton Community College and later transferred to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), where he studied under Paul Dresang and Matt Wilt. Kyle received his Master of Fine Arts degree from Ohio University, studying with Brad Schwieger, Tom Bartel, Alex Hibbitt, and Chuck McWeeny. While at Ohio University, Kyle participated in a six-week residency at The International Ceramics Center in Kecskemet, Hungary. He served as a studio assistant at Arrowmont School for the Arts and Crafts, returning several times as a workshop assistant. Kyle has shown both his slipcast and wheel-thrown work in galleries and exhibitions across the country. He has completed long-term residencies at the Archie Bray Foundation, Kansas State University, the University of Kansas, Wesleyan University, Northern Arizona University, The Umbrella Arts Center, and was one of the 2019-2020 Artists in Residence at the Ceramics Program, Office for the Arts at Harvard. In addition to teaching classes at the Ceramics Program, he serves as an instructor and staff member at The Umbrella Arts Center in Concord, Massachusetts.
