Make Art
Saturday, May 2
Everyone is an artist at Arts Fest! Make art with students and staff on the Science Center Plaza and in Harvard Yard.
1-5pm on the Science Center Plaza
Draw a Quilt
Join the Black Arts Collective in creating a community quilt! Draw, decorate or write on a quilt square with your take on the theme "What Sustains Community."
Upcycled Pinback Buttons
Create your own collage from recycled magazines, then turn it into a pinback button with members of the Class of 2029 on the First-Year Arts Board.
Art from Sunlight: Cyanotypes
Join educators from the Harvard Museum of Natural History to make ghostly silhouettes with objects on specially treated paper that changes color in the sunlight. Check out other Make Art stations while your piece develops and then come back to see your finished print!
Crochet and Pom-Poms
Join the Harvard Undergraduate Knitting Circle to make pom-poms and tassels out of yarn, or grab a hook and learn to crochet.
1-5pm in Harvard Yard
Sew a Whale
Join artist, activist and educator Kat Owens to work on a life-size portrait of an 80-foot fin whale, one of the hundreds of sea animals harmed by plastic. Participants sign the back of each piece they work on, creating a lasting record of all who contribute.
Body of Evidence
Join researchers from the Mahalingaiah Lab at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health to create a visual representation of the effects of microplastics on human health.
Community Handprint Mural
Join the 2026 Senior Class Committee to create a community mural composed of handprints! One mural represents our local community, while another is a lasting keepsake for graduating students.
5-5:30pm in Harvard Yard
Instrument Petting Zoo
Join Harvard student musicians to try your hand at playing a wide variety of musical instruments.
