PARKING & DIRECTIONS

 

Parking to our venues is very limited in the vicinity of Harvard Square. We strongly recommend the use of public transportation. The MBTA Red Line T, with parking available at Braintree and Alewife, stops at Harvard Square. See directions from the train stop to various venues on campus.

Sanders Theatre

Sanders Theatre is located inside Memorial Hall at 45 Quincy Street in Cambridge. There is NO PARKING at Memorial Hall. For select events at Sanders, nearby parking is available at the Broadway Garage and 52 Oxford Street Garage. See information below.

Agassiz Theatre

Agassiz Theatre is located inside Agassiz House at 5 James Street in Cambridge. There is NO PARKING at Agassiz Theatre. Parking is available at paid public parking in Harvard Square, including the Harvard Square Parking Garage (65 JFK Street), Charles Square Garage (1 Bennett Street), Propark Church Street Lot (41 Church Street) and University Place Garage (124 Mt. Auburn Street).

Lowell Hall

Lowell Hall is located at 17 Kirkland Street in Cambridge, on the corner of Oxford and Kirkland Streets. There is NO PARKING at Lowell Hall. Parking is located at the underground garage at 52 Oxford Street, at Everett Street.

Paine Hall

Paine Hall is located at 3 Oxford Street in Cambridge. There is NO PARKING at Paine Hall, which is part of the Music Building behind the Science Center. Parking is located at the underground garage at 52 Oxford Street, at Everett Street.

Broadway Garage

The Broadway Garage is located at 7 Felton Street, between Broadway and Cambridge Streets. Patrons tell the attendant that they are attending a Sanders Theatre event. They receive a swipe ticket which they will use to get back into the garage after the show, and which they will use to exit. (For select events only. Call us at 617.496.2222 or chat with us to confirm.) The distance is 0.2 miles or a 5 minute walk to Sanders Theatre.

Oxford Street Garage

The 52 Oxford Street Garage is located at 52 Oxford Street, at the intersection of Everett and Oxford Streets. Parking is located in an underground, attended garage. The distance is 0.3 miles or a 6 minute walk to Sanders Theatre.

Accessible Parking for Sanders

There is no parking at Sanders Theatre itself. Patrons may be dropped off in the circle driveway on the Kirkland Street side of Sanders Theatre near the accessible entrance, at 6 Kirkland Street. We encourage patrons to park at either the Broadway Garage or the 52 Oxford Street Garage. There are curb cuts at all crosswalks between the garage and the Theatre. If necessary, a limited number of accessible parking spaces may be available in a nearby location by advance arrangement only. It is extremely difficult to honor requests received less than 2 business days prior to an event - please plan ahead and contact the office as early as possible. Broadway Garage - (0.2 miles from Sanders Theatre). Accessible parking spaces are available on the first floor. Please note there is no elevator at the Broadway garage. There are curb cuts at all crosswalks between the garage and the Theatre.

Oxford Street Garage - (0.3 miles from Sanders Theatre). The 52 Oxford Street Garage is fully accessible with elevators and accessible parking spaces. There are curb cuts at all crosswalks between the garage and the Theatre.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

MBTA from the South

  • Drive to Braintree MBTA station parking garage (Braintree exit 17 off of Route 3 coming from Cape Cod or the South Shore).
  • Take the Red Line in the direction of Alewife to "Harvard".
  • Allow approximately 45 minutes for the subway portion of the trip.

MBTA from the North

  • Drive to the Alewife MBTA station parking garage.
  • Take the Red Line.
  • Get off at the third stop; "Harvard".
  • Allow fifteen minutes for subway portion of the trip.

MBTA from the West

  • Drive to Riverside MBTA station in Newton, the western terminus of one branch of the Green Line (Exit 22A from Route 128), where there is an open-air parking lot.
  • Take the Green Line to the "Park Street" stop. Go downstairs, following signs marked "Red Line to Alewife".
  • Take train in the direction of Alewife four stops to "Harvard".
  • Allow 45 minutes for subway portion of the trip.

DRIVING

From North of Boston

  • Take I-93 South to exit 26 (Cambridge/Storrow Drive*).
  • Keep left at end of ramp and take underpass to Storrow Drive*
  • Continue on Storrow Drive* approximately 4 miles to Cambridge/Allston.
  • Take the Harvard Square exit.
  • Turn right at end of ramp onto John F.Kennedy Street.
  • Harvard Square is approximately 1/2 mile straight ahead.

From South of Boston

  • Take I-93 North to exit 26 (Cambridge/Storrow Drive*).
  • Keep left at end of ramp and take underpass to Storrow Drive*
  • Continue on Storrow Drive* approximately 4 miles to Cambridge/Allston.
  • Take the Harvard Square exit.
  • Turn right at end of ramp onto John F.Kennedy Street.
  • Harvard Square is approximately 1/2 mile straight ahead.

From West of Boston

  • Take I-90 East (Mass Turnpike) to exit 18 (Cambridge/Allston)
  • Bear right after at end of exit ramp.
  • Turn left after lights (before the bridge) onto Storrow Drive*.
  • Take Cambridge/Allston exit (1/2 mile ahead) and turn right at end of ramp onto John F. Kennedy Street.
  • Harvard Square is approximately 1/2 mile straight ahead.

FROM HARVARD SQUARE

Walking to Sanders Theatre

  • The Harvard Coop is on the left.
  • Continue forward on what is now Massachusetts Ave, stay in the middle lane.
  • At the next light (Harvard Yard is on your right) stay to the right.
  • Take the right under the underpass, follow signs toward Cambridge/Kirkland Streets.
  • Coming up from the underpass, the road splits, stay to the left. This will bring you to a traffic light with Memorial Hall on your left and the firehouse on your right.
  • You can either drop patrons off at the theater, or go directly to the garage and park.

Drop off patrons at Sanders Theatre

  • Turn left onto Quincy Street.
  • Stay on the left on Quincy Street.
  • Turn left at light onto Kirkland Street.
  • Turn left into circular driveway, at 6 Kirkland Street. (One way and No Parking policies strictly enforced.)

To Broadway Garage

  • Go straight through traffic light on Cambridge Street.
  • Turn right at second street (Felton Street). Garage address is 7 Felton St.
  • Entrance to Garage is on your right.
