Course Description: Access the recordings of six, informative lectures from this popular class from Spring 2021! Learn what happens to your pot or sculpture once it makes its way into the kiln! This course covers basic concepts behind different firing methods and kiln designs. If you are interested in taking an in-depth look at reduction, oxidation, and atmospheric firing principles, key temperatures, and techniques, then this is the class for you! Do you want to learn more about alternative firing methods? And what is a thermocouple, damper, spyhole, or bag wall anyway? Curious to know more? – Come stoke the flames of kiln wonderment in this new online course!With your registration, you will receive access to a Harvard Google Classroom which will feature recordings of each lecture.

This lecture class does not include access for glazing or firing services at the Ceramics Program.

Course Fees: Free for Harvard College Undergraduate Students; $90 for Harvard Graduate Students, Harvard employees and Adult Community.
