Class Description
This intermediate to advanced level class incorporates the fundamentals of the modern dance vocabularies of Horton, Dunham and Limón. Terms such as Lateral T, Hinge, the table, the c-curve, undulation, fall and rebound, spiraling, release swing, and contract and release will be explored through a series of exercise sequences. The use of the torso and working in a way that is “grounded” are emphasized as defining modern dance movement qualities. Students will explore classical modern techniques through a series of choreographed movement studies designed to develop one’s muscle memory, movement fluidity, and individual improvisational voice. Each class will be accompanied by live drumming. At least three years of advanced level modern or ballet technique recommended.
