Bio: Patrick Michaels Piano Studio Mr. Michaels has been a student of the piano his whole life. His interests range from classical Western repertoire, to women composers, to African and African-American composers, to Latin American repertoire. His students have given recitals focussed on all of these (and other) themes. His studio features jazz and pop-inspired repertoire as well. He tries to teach to the interests his students bring. He studied at the University of Minnesota both undergraduate and graduate work with Paul Freed in the 70s, and has continued to learn, most recently learning the Dorothy Taubman approach to piano technique from Yoriko Fieleke. He has taught private piano lessons for 40 years. Mr. Michaels welcomes all students at all levels and all ages (currently ages 8 through 80’s). He teaches beginners to read music fluently and painlessly in a short time. Recitals are an enjoyable and creative component of his studio. Inquiries are welcome.
