Bio: Bio: JJulie Scolnik has enjoyed a diverse musical career as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral flutist. The 2025-26 season marks Ms Scolnik's 29th year as founding artistic director of Mistral Music (www.MistralMusic.org), a chamber music series which has garnered accolades for the virtuosic performances of its artists as well as the innovative programming. Ms. Scolnik has been a guest flutist at music festivals throughout the United States and France and has collaborated with international ensembles such as the Borromeo, Brentano, Chiara and Lydian String Quartets. In earlier years, Ms. Scolnik performed as principal flute with many of Boston's leading orchestras including Emmanuel Music, The Boston Ballet, and Lyric Opera, and toured and recorded in the flute section of the Boston Symphony. Ms. Scolnik is a frequent featured guest on Boston's WGBH radio, having made over three dozen radio appearances. She is very committed to her students and has an uncanny knack for finding immediate solutions to their technical and tonal challenges. Scolnik develops very close relationships with her students and cares deeply about their musical journeys. She lives in Brookline, a 25-30 minute T or bus ride away. Ms. Scolnik has also written a memoir, Paris Blue, that has garnered over 20 awards and a quote from John Irving on its cover. It is set against a backdrop of classical music and Paris in the late 70’s and is about the grip of first love and the role of memory in our lives.
