Bio: Originally from Buenos Aires, Argen3na, Guillermo Nojechowicz is the percussive drive behind his band EL ECO’s elegant fusion of Brazilian Argen3nean jazz. Combining samba and the tighter lines of straight-ahead jazz, he is a master of all the idioms, including Cuban, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, Funk – and of course, tango. A drummer who plays with the ear of a composer, Nojechowicz wrote most of the material on the band’s long-awaited new CD, Puerto de Buenos Aires 1933 (Zoho Music), which features Grammy Award winner trumpeter Brian Lynch. Nojechowicz has also performed with Claudio Rodi3, Donny McCaslin, Jon Faddis, Danilo Perez, Airto Moreira, Romero Lubambo, and Carly Simon. Renowned jazz vocalist Luciana Souza has called Guillermo’s new CD “a beautiful and important record.” An interna3onal clinician and educator, Nojechowicz teaches at the Berklee Five Week Summer Program since 2010 and is a faculty member with the Visual and Performing Arts Department at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. He was an Artist-in- Residence at the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, where he worked with film composer Elliot Goldenthal (Frida) and director Andrei Serban. Nojechowicz just wrote the music for the film “Jazz Saved My LIfe,” directed by Justin Freed, which premiered at the Coolidge Corner, Brookline, MA in December ’22. Recently he traveled to Argentina where he performed with his quartet at BeBop in Buenos Aires. He was also in Santiago, Chile teaching a Master Class at the Conservatory de Santiago. In January '24, Guillermo performed at the Panama Jazz Festival. Online lessons offered.
