Class Description

A high-energy and engaging class for all levels that aims to support students in rediscovering what self-expression feels like through Soca music. Students will explore a fusion of styles including Soca, Dancehall, Hip Hop, West African, and Caribbean Folk, to release rigidity in the body and relearn what it means to be grounded. Beginning with a warmup crafted to wake up the body, choreography will be broken down into accessible learning segments to allow all students to fully understand and execute the movements. Soca Fusion focuses on creating an inner joy and confidence that students will be encouraged to maintain across all dance disciplines, and throughout their lives to live more freely and authentically. No previous dance experience necessary.

The first six weeks of classes will be taught be Hershey Bliss and the last four weeks will be taught by Ella Wechsler-Matthaei.
