Level: Beginner - Advanced (all levels)
This workshop meets on Saturday, September 26 from 1:00-4:00pm

In this experimental soft sculpture workshop for Harvard College undergrads, students create free-standing forms by sewing and stuffing a range of found and sourced textiles. Projects may reinterpret familiar everyday objects or explore entirely abstract shapes. Through shifts in scale, material, and form, students investigate how sculpture can alter both the character of an object and the viewer's perception of it. Those choosing to work abstractly will translate a two-dimensional drawing into a three-dimensional sculpture, considering volume, color, pattern, and surface as integral elements of the design. All equipment and materials will be provided.
