Self-Portrait Drawing Workshop

This workshop meets on Saturday, October 17 from 1:00-4:00pm

In this workshop for Harvard College undergraduates, students explore self-portraiture as a means of observation, experimentation, and self-expression. Working primarily from a mirror and photographic references, students develop drawings that move beyond physical likeness to investigate identity, mood, memory, and personal narrative.

With instructor guidance, students will consider proportion, composition, value, and mark-making while experimenting with a variety of drawing materials and approaches. Students are encouraged to consider how pose, scale, cropping, symbolism, and expressive techniques can shape the meaning of a portrait.
