Matt and Rose Katz of the Ceramics Material Workshop will answer your burning questions about clay and glaze with co-host Kathy King and producer Ben Carter. The event will feature the gang in a panel format, with audience members able to ask questions live! Topics may include clay and glaze chemistry, studio procedures, and ceramic material science. No prior experience with ceramics is expected, but it is helpful.
The Ceramics Program has collaborated with the Ceramics Materials Workshop for over a decade, featuring online classes for students to learn about clay and glazes. The Ceramics Materials Workshop is an online place to understand and explore how and why our Clay and Glazes work (and don’t work). For a ceramicist, materials speak for us in the home and gallery, and it benefits us to learn how to speak through them. Mastering the skills of clay and glaze performance helps every ceramicist become their best self in the studio.
