MachineDazzleHow can a costume be transformed into a physical object, or a scenic element become a wearable piece of art? In his master class Designing Transformative Objects, Machine Dazzle provides insight and context into the multi-year creative development process that culminated in Taylor Mac’s A 24-Decade History of Popular Music, the epic 24-hour long radical re-framing of American History told through 246 songs. Dazzle will challenge you to reimagine how costumes, props and scenic elements play an active, vital role in the storytelling process. Participants will be challenged to develop a design concept on the theme of the unexpected element of surprise. At the end of the session, participants will share their ideas, present two-dimensional models of their design, and brainstorm with Machine Dazzle on how their concepts could be fully realized. This event is open to members of the Harvard community only. Registration required. Lunch will be provided. Enter through Chauncy Street. For more information click here.
