In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, a pair of star-cross’d lovers take their life—but not before belting out the greatest hits of the piano-playing pop icon Elton John. In its fourth annual jukebox musical Satire V tells Shakespeare’s classic tale of two ill-fated lovers through the music of Sir Elton John, whose gaudy aesthetic and catchy tunes about love, devotion, and redemption color the show. English literature’s most famous couple feels the love tonight, but can they get hitched and ditch their feuding families before the sun goes down on their relationship? Although they pledged to never go breaking each other’s hearts, ultimately Romeo and Juliet come up against the power of fate—the circle of life.
