The rise of queer political struggle in the 20th century relies upon cooperation across different identities: for instance lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, agender. Yet as these terms are more recent in their use and meaning, tracing their longer history in archives and special collections is sometimes difficult. This workshop will link up more recent highlights in LGBTQ+ history from the Houghton's collections items spanning the past 400 years, in hopes of providing students with the tools and vocabulary for understanding and researching the much wider history of gender nonconformity
Maximum of 15 people per workshop. The content of each workshop is the same so please sign up for the morning or afternoon session.
