ABOUT THE WONDERTWINS
The Wondertwins are an award-winning duo and street dance pioneers from Boston. At the age of ten, identical twins Billy and Bobby McClain were invited to join Boston’s first professional street dance crew, The Funk Affects. After eight years of opening for such hip-hop icons as Run DMC and LL Cool J, they branched off on their own as The Wondertwins. They have since danced on tour with Bobby Brown and choreographed for the New Kids on the Block. They are six time winners of Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater and were featured dancers with Maurice Hines and his Apollo Club Harlem. They have headlined Jacob’s Pillow "Unreal Hip Hop" & Inside/Out Dance Festival, Brooklyn Dance Fest, Detroit jazz Festival, Institute of Contemporary Art, Rochester University, Southern Vermont, Dance Festival, Colby College, UraGano Italy, Concepto Vimen Mexico, TedX talks boston, Dance The Yard, DanceNOW Boston, DanceNOW NYCJoes Pub, Dixon Place, The Dance Hall and The Music Hall Loft.
Over the years The Wondertwins have created a distinctive style all their own, with the technical facility of hip hop, the sophistication of the glory days of the Cotton Club, the flash of Rat Pack era Las Vegas, and elements of vaudeville, robot, tap, and mime. As educators, Billy and Bobby have been working as advisors and teaching dance in the Boston Public School system for the past 20 years.
Former Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre executive director Judith Jamison has praised The Wondertwins as “absolutely beautiful, strong, powerful, and electric…made for Broadway” and Maurice Hines noted that the identical twins "dance in the same spirit as the great brothers of dance before them.”
Please note that your online registration will hold your space up until 10 minutes prior to the start of class. After that time, we will be admitting participants who are present on a first-come, first-served basis.
