Harvard student actors, affiliates and the public are invited to engage with industry professionals Kaitlin Hopkins and Paige Price in a daylong residency on Nov. 30 which includes a master class with 10 musical theater students, a primer on wellness practices and a Q&A on the “Biz of the Biz.” Accompaniment by Liz Kantor ‘18. Reception to follow.

Broadway performer Price (Beauty and the Beast, Smokey Joe’s Cafe and Saturday Night Fever) and Broadway and TV/screen performer Hopkins (The Great American Trailer Park Musical, Bat Boy: The Musical, The Nanny Diaries, Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) will offer three sessions on Nov. 30 at Harvard: a master class for musical performers, a conversation on building mental health awareness and practices for actors and a “biz of the biz” Q&A session. 

Participating students include:

Laura Sky Herman '19Laura Sky Herman '19 is a second-semester sophomore pursuing a joint concentration in history of art and architecture, and theater, dance & media. At Harvard, she has performed in 11 productions, directed and choreographed the musical Spring Awakening, and interned at American Repertory Theater. Favorite professional opportunities include dancing with the Bolshoi Ballet and performing at Paper Mill Playhouse. She loves all things theater and the joy it brings to others.

Celia Kenney '20Celia Kenney ’20 lives in Adams House and is concentrating in English with a secondary in theater, dance & media studies. She grew up singing and acting in Honolulu, Hawaii, and continues to be involved with theater at Harvard.

Jennier Lee '20Jennifer Lee ’20 lives in Leverett House and is from California. She is concentrating in computer science and government. She has been singing since high school, and, at Harvard, she performs with HRDC and the Radcliffe Choral Society. She currently studies voice with Tom Jones.

Henry Lynch '20Henry Lynch ’20 is concentrating in linguistics with a related field in theater, dance and media. He has been involved as an actor in several productions at Harvard including this semester’s Spring Awakening and the upcoming columbinus. He is also a member of the men’s heavyweight crew team.

Lindsay McAuliffe ’20Lindsay McAuliffe ’20 is a theater, dance and media concentrator who is from Brookline, Massachusetts and lives in Leverett House. At Harvard, she has appeared in Macbeth (Lady Macbeth), Peer Gynt (Åse Gynt) and Ammunition (Carolyn Korhonen) and produced Spring Awakening. She has worked at College Light Opera Company as a member of the Vocal Company (nine musicals in 11 weeks!!!). She spent a semester studying classical acting at LAMDA in 2016, and is proud graduate of Walnut Hill School for the Arts.

Annabel O'Hagan ’19Annabel O'Hagan ’19 is studying psychology with a secondary in theater, dance and media. She has been involved with Harvard productions as a performer, producer and stage manager, and will be performing in columbinus Dec. 1-3. She is the publicity chair of the Harvard College Musical Theater Association and is dedicated to bringing more theatrical opportunities to Harvard students.

Mike Shirek ’20Mike Shirek 20 is from Hettinger, North Dakota, and is concentrating in psychology with a secondary in Scandinavian language and literature. At Harvard, he has been involved in theater productions including Gypsy, The Pirates of Penzance and Aloha Say the Pretty Girls. Outside of the theater, Shirek also works on personal film projects and paintings.

Madeleine Snow ’20Madeleine Snow ’20 lives in Leverett House and is concentrating in history and statistics. She loves to perform and produce shows with Harvard-Radcliffe Dramatic Club, Harvard College Musical Theater, Harvard College Opera and Harvard University Choir.

Derek Speedy ’18Derek Speedy ’18 is a senior theater, dance and media concentrator who is from Chester, New Jersey, and lives in Leverett House. At Harvard, Speedy has appeared in Dogfight (Eddie Birdlace), Into the Woods (Baker), Assassins (John Hinckley Jr.), Polaroid Stories (Orpheus) and References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot (Coyote). Speedy is also a four-year cast member of Hasty Pudding Theatricals and a 2017 Artist Development Fellow from the Office for the Arts. His TDM senior thesis, for which he is director, is a production of columbinus, which runs Dec. 1-3 at Farkas Hall.

Asia Stewart ’18Asia Stewart ’18 lives in Kirkland House and is pursuing a joint concentration in government and women, gender and sexuality studies, and a secondary in ethnicity, migration and rights. She is a 2014 National YoungArts Foundation winner in musical theater, and has performed in student-run musicals and at American Repertory Theater and Oberon. She has also performed with Harvard College Opera and with Commonwealth Lyric Theater.
