Join us for a lecture with Ian Thomas, one of fourteen invited artists in our Gallery 224 exhibition, Raise a Glass: A Contemporary Response to Animal-Shaped Vessels from the Ancient World, on view October 13–November 26. Thomas’s current practice centers on making historically inspired vessels and sculpture which are aggressively decorated and manipulated. Thomas has exhibited at The David Winton Bell Gallery, Virginia Museum of Art, Fuller Craft Museum, Bellevue Museum, and the Nasher Sculpture Museum. His work has been exhibited in China, Slovakia, Dubai, Tel Aviv as well as across the United States. His works have been included in over a dozen book publications. Additionally, he has presented lectures/workshops at over 25 institutions including Cornell University, Queens College, and Syracuse University. Thomas an Assistant Professor at Allegheny College in Meadville PA.
