–Informal dance jam in a judgment-free zone
–Live drumming
–Soul food
–Meet students, staff, and faculty from Dance and across the university

Mix, mingle, and eat food

Cypher led by Aysha Upchurch AIE'15 and accompanied by musician Akili Jamal Haynes 

Cypher participants are welcome to stay for the first class of Contemporary I starting at 6pm for free!

What is a cypher?
A cypher is freestyle dance jam where an open circle is created and people take turns dancing in the center. The cypher (or cipher) has deep, long-standing cultural roots in hip hop culture, African tradition, and even religious beliefs.

Location: Studio 1 is located on the main floor of the Harvard Dance Center. 

Transportation Tip: The Quad-Yard Express (free shuttle bus) runs from Harvard Yard/Square to the Quad (across the street from the Dance Center) every 20-25 minutes in the evenings. For more information, visit:
