A Conversation with Wendy Whelan and Brian Brooks

Wendy Whelan is one of America's most celebrated ballerinas. Whelan was a principal dancer with the New York City Ballet for 30 years and amongst her awards are The Jerome Robbins Award and Bessie Award. Ms. Whelan is currently on a 3-year national tour of her "Restless Creature" project, and is also working on other freelance projects in dance and opera. She has enlarged the art she serves. Brian Brooks is an accomplished choreographer, dancer, and educator. He is the founder/artistic director of the New York based Brian Brooks Moving Company. Recent achievements include choreographing for Julie Taymor's Midsummer Night's Dream; creating commissioned work for a Guggenheim Fellowship, and the Joyce Theater's Artist Residency.

Ms. Whelan and Mr. Brooks will discuss their artistic collaboration, including their work together on the Restless Creature project.
