Members of the Harvard Choruses will be making a cameo appearance with singers from Berklee and the Boston Conservatory and the celebrated Grammy Award–winning choral ensemble Conspirare in a performance of Craig Hella Johnson's new musical masterwork Considering Matthew Shepard at Symphony Hall on February 5. This performance marks the first large ensemble collaboration between Harvard, Berklee, and the Boston Conservatory at Berklee since the announcement of the double degree program between the schools, and we are excited for the opportunity to work with our Boston choral colleagues on this incredible work.

Audiences describe this work as “brilliant,” “powerful,” “innovative,” “dazzling,” and “gripping.”  The Washington Post wrote "Considering Matthew Shepard demonstrates music’s capacity to encompass, transform and transcend tragedy. Powerfully cathartic, it leads us from horror and grief to a higher understanding of the human condition, enabling us to endure.”

Led from the piano by Johnson, Considering Matthew Shepard showcases the award-winning artistry of Conspirare's singers and instrumental chamber ensemble. The studio recording debuted at #4 on Billboard's Traditional Classical Chart following a September 9, 2016 release on the Harmonia Mundi label, and is nominated for a 2016 GRAMMY award.

Also, Berklee is partnering with the Mayor's Office for Arts and Culture to present the Boston Day of Reflection: Creating a More Caring and Just Community, an event from 10;00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4 at the Boston Public Library. This free, all-day event includes an expert panel on campus inclusiveness, a presentation and Q&A by Lesléa Newman entitled He Continues to Make a Difference: The Story of Matthew Shepard, and a performance by noted singer/songwriter Melissa Ferrick.

Group discounts of 25% are available for groups of 10 and more at the BSO box office
