Scott Allen Jarrett conducts some of British composer Ralph Vaughan William’s most beautiful choral music. English masterworks for chorus, orchestra, and soloists from Vaughan Williams, including Toward the Unknown Region(1907), a setting of the Walt Whitman poemDarest thou now O Soul (from Leaves of Grass); the magnificent Dona Nobis Pacem (1936), an impassioned anti-war cantata based on Whitman poems and sacred texts; and Five Variants on “Dives and Lazarus” (1939) which evokes Vaughan Williams' love of English folk music, in this case set for string orchestra and harp. Please consider joining the Back Bay Chorale, Orchestra and soloists on this Mother’s Day.
