Digital design gives us new tools for exploring familiar aspects of form (simplicity, repetition, complexity, symmetry) and opens new uniquely digital possibilities, including generative AI tools, 3D scanning, and augmented reality. Digital fabrication methods such as 3D printing give us new options for realizing our designs, including direct 3D printing, 3D printing of models for making molds, and creating digitally designed custom tools and templates. Students will gain basic proficiency in 3D design software (Rhinoceros 3D) and 3D printing in plastic and clay using Harvard Ceramics Program’s new LUTUM® v4.6 clay printer. **\*\*\*Pre-requisite: Basic mold-making course or Molds & Multiples course at Harvard Ceramics.\*\*\*** Students who wish to purchase Rhinoceros 3D software must provide proof of registration to receive the discounted student rate.
