Rooted in the contemporary dance techniques developed in the 1970’s to the present day, this class begins by warming the body with attention to structure and fluidity in the joints. Movement phrases for small spaces will help students explore the body’s relationship to gravity, space, and weight. Emphasis is placed on approaching dance phrasework and improvisation, while developing aesthetic discernment and the capacity for play. No previous dance experience necessary.
Day/Time: M, 7-8pm ET
What you’ll need: A minimum cleared space of 3’x3’ of hard flooring. 
Suggested attire: Something comfortable to move in, e.g. dance/yoga/workout wear. Bare feet recommended.

Conditioning: Strength & Stretch

Instructor: Nailah Randall-Bellinger
Combines the classical modern dance Katherine Dunham barre vocabulary, yoga, Pilates, integrated breathing exercises, and musicality to build stamina and coordination essential to the dancing body. 
Day/Time: Sat, 10-11am ET
What you’ll need: A minimum cleared space of 3’x3’ of flooring. A yoga or exercise mat, towel, or carpet is recommended for comfort. 
Suggested attire: Something comfortable to move in, e.g. dance/yoga/workout wear. Bare feet recommended.

Soca Fusion

Instructor: Ella Wechsler-Matthaei
A high-energy and engaging class for all levels that aims to support students in rediscovering what self-expression feels like through Soca music. Adapted for a small space, students will explore a fusion of styles including Soca, Dancehall, Hip Hop, West African, and Caribbean Folk, to release rigidity in the body and relearn what it means to be grounded. Beginning with a warmup crafted to wake up the body, choreography will be  broken down into accessible learning segments to allow all students to fully understand and execute the movements. Soca Fusion focuses on creating an inner confidence that students will be encouraged to maintain across all dance disciplines, and throughout their lives to live more freely and authentically. 
Days/Time: T, 5-6pm ET;  Th, 7-8pm ET
