Course Description: Taking inspiration from the work of master contemporary ceramic sculptors, students will examine and discuss what makes these sculptures stylistically, technically, and emotionally successful. Examining the work of artists such as Akio Takemori, Sunkoo Yuh, Ah Xian and Tip Toland will provide inspiration. There will be several classes with a live figure model to observe the anatomy, gesture, and expressive qualities of the figure. Students will also use photographs, memory, and personal sensibilities to explore their own individual styles and interests. (12 classes/14 weeks)
