Inspired by History

Semester:

Summer

Offered:

2022

Dates: June 3 - August 12* (10 classes | 11 weeks)Dennis McLaughlin with demo piece for Inspired by History.
Day/Time: Fridays, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Level: Intermediate - Advanced
Instructor:  Denny McLaughlin

Course Description: Let’s think globally as we seek inspiration for both form and function from potters in the last 10,000 years! Each class will be spent examining the functional pottery made during a different time and cultures from around the globe. Objects from the collections of the Harvard Art Museums will inspire demonstrations both on and off the wheel. We’ll consult with curators and conservators from the

museums for special insights into objects when possible. Students can work in their own studios, inspired by the forms examined in class or simply follow along.

*Class will not be held on June 10th due to instructor travel.
