Course Description: This class format focuses on breaking old habits and considering new directions to take our work including utility, form and surface. There are three, three-week cycles to this 9-week class. For two weeks, students, with the guidance of the instructor will “explore” through experimentation with different forms. The third week, the group comes together to “refine” through critique intended to refine our ideas. This format is then repeated two more times. Though this class does focus primarily on the wheel, hand builders are welcome! Class demonstrations will be given based on student input with the remainder of the class being one-on-one help. (9 classes/10 weeks) *Note: No classes on Thursday, July 4th for Indepdence Day!
Course Fees: $125 for Harvard Undergraduate Students, $275 for Harvard Graduate Students, $875 for Adult Community, TAP Regular and Long-Service - Follow instructions in online registration system for pricing.
Your course fee covers use of all clays (terra cotta, stoneware, sculpture body, porcelain), bisque firing, glazes, and glaze firing up to 8,000 cu. inches of kiln space, as well as 7-day access to the ceramics program and its equipment from the start date of your class through August 10th.
