    pianist GEORGE CABLES

Leverett House Theatre, Mill St. (between Plympton & DeWolfe streets)

Pianist George CablesPresented by: Learning From Performers
Tickets: Free (tickets or RSVPs not required; seating first-come, first-served, subject to venue capacity).
Venue: Leverett House Theatre (between Plympton and DeWolfe streets) Entrance on Mill Street (map)

A “player’s player,” Cables will discuss his career during a conversation moderated by Ingrid Monson, Quincy Jones Professor of African American Music. “Anyone who is serious about jazz will tell you that George Cables belongs in the pantheon of the greatest jazz pianists,” Victor L. Schermer has written in All About Jazz. “Everyone, that is, except George Cables. Exceptional in every way, he is yet a team player. He sees himself as part of the rhythm section, and has always emphasized the group over the soloist.”

Mr. Cables' residency is supported by the Peter Ivers Visiting Artist Fund.
