Grounded with Sparrows and Obituaries

[http://www.flickr.com/apps/slideshow/show.swf?v=71649] What does the word "grounded" mean to you? Does it mean you have fallen? Or connected to the earth? Are there religious meanings? Jessica Watkins has a meaningful mixed media installation up in the Holyoke Center Gallery that will make you think about what "grounded" means to you. The work is a collection of sparrows made of wire, feathers, wax and obituaries. I think it's a very personal reflection on our lives. It's part memorial, part celebration of a life and how they connect. In memory of Micah Brian Owen. See it in person. You can ask Jessica what she thinks in person Friday night between 5 - 7 pm in Holyoke Center Gallery.Jessica's website
