Greetings, Class of 2022!
Welcome to Harvard! And a big congratulations from everyone at the Office for the Arts. We are so happy you are here, and we look forward to helping you find the time, space, resources, funding and expression for the arts you've dreamed of making and the arts you want to continue making. Our team supports artmaking at all levels and in all genres. Bring it!
A few notes so that you don't have to try to remember every single detail during these first minutes, hours, days and weeks of your time at Harvard.
First, we look forward to seeing you and sharing more info about the OFA and your artmaking at all the Opening Days events. See you at:
Academic and Co-Curricular Expo Thursday, August 30, 3-4 p.m.
Arts & Humanities Academic Fair Friday, August 31, 2:30-5 p.m.
Student Involvement Fair Friday, Sept. 7, 3-5 p.m.
Stop by to meet our team and learn about the OFA -- and get a free MAKE ART sticker and button, too.
Also: When you're ready to think about all the ways the OFA can help you, check out our resources and funding pages -- noting that the first deadlines are coming right up! Project Grants deadlines are September 10 for Fall '18 and November 19 for Spring '19. The deadline to apply for the Music Lesson Subsidy Program is September 17. Your contact for resources and funding is Stephanie Troisi.
And also: When you want to be in the presence of artists who are already pros and are visiting campus to share their stories with you, check out the Learning from Performers program. We work with students, faculty and many other producing partners to keep the conversation about the arts lively, professional and community oriented. These programs are for YOU, but most of them are free and open to the public, too. So bring your roommate, your friend from across the river or a family member who's in town. Everyone is welcome. I'm your main contact for LFP inquiries. Read about last year's programs here. And check out what's coming up here. (Check back frequently for updates, too!)
And also: Mark your calendar now for ARTS FIRST -- Harvard's signature festival celebrating student, faculty, alumni and community creativity. It's open to everyone: May 2-5, 2019. More on that later. But if you have questions now, reach out to Marin Randow-Orlosky 'o7-'08.
Finally: Sign up for The Beat, our weekly e-digest that tells you everything that's happening in and around Harvard in the arts. It's once a week, so relax about the clutter potential.
We look forward to seeing you at Opening Days and throughout your time here at Harvard. Stop by any time to talk at 74 Mount Auburn. We're here for you.
