Harvard has a long and rich theatrical tradition, dating back to the founding of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals, one of the oldest theater companies in the country, more than 150 years ago. The Office for the Arts has been part of that tradition since its founding in 1975 and has grown over the past 50 years to support more than 30 productions per year across 8 different venues. The OFA Theater Program advises and mentors students on all aspects of co-curricular theater production and supports the largest student theater producing organization on campus: the Harvard-Radcliffe Dramatic Club. The Theater Program supports student productions across campus, from Agassiz Theatre to House Arts Spaces, with expertise in producing, directing, designing, writing/composing, and house and stage management.

Harvard undergraduates have the opportunity to study and practice the performing arts through Theater, Dance, & Media (TDM) concentration; to benefit from the work of the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.), a world-class professional company in residence; and to create theater outside of the curriculum through dozens of student theatre, dance and cultural organizations as well as projects initiated by individual students.

## **Student Groups**

Outside of productions presented by TDM and A.R.T., most of the theater productions staged each year are produced, directed, designed, acted and run by students with support from the Office for the Arts and a variety of student-led theater groups. For a full list of student groups, visit the Dean of Students Office's comprehensive Student Organizations page.
