2012-13 Flashback: Learning From Performers

Twenty-five individual artists and two music ensembles participated in Learning From Performers during the 2012-13 academic year, interacting with Harvard students and the broader community in a series of master classes, workshops, seminars and informal discussions. From the vocal coaching of legendary singer Barbara Cook to a discussion-clinic with jazz/hip-hop maverick Robert Glasper, and a conversation with funnyman Jason Alexander to a workshop with storyteller Xanthe Gresham, professionals in the arts shared their knowledge, experience and passion. As Tony Award-winning vocalist/actor Christine Ebersole advised a trio of student performers in her Wintersession master class, “Recognize your own gifts, then act on them. The power of who you are and what you bring to it—that’s what gets transmitted.”

Some highlights of the year’s programming are in the photos below (click on each photo for more information).
