The OFA Dance Program offers professional instruction in a wide range of styles during the academic year to undergraduates, graduate students, staff, faculty, and alumni/ae at the Harvard Dance Center, 60 Garden St., and the Director’s Studio at 74 Mt. Auburn St. Co- curricular courses are offered at beginning to advanced levels, and the program has been instrumental in the development of FAS courses in dance history, choreography, technique, and repertory, offered through the Committee on Dramatic Arts. Artist residencies, master classes and professional mentoring for student choreographers and the opportunity to learn professional repertoire are also a focus, and the program also presents two concerts per year. more...

Music

The OFA oversees and supports the activities of a range of professionally-led choral and instrumental ensembles; sponsors an annual Jazz Master in Residence program; offers a co-curricular course in fundamental skills for choral singing; and provides music lesson subsidies and a music teacher referral file. Through the Learning From Performers program, the OFA also sponsors master classes, workshops and lectures featuring classical and popular artists; past participants have included soprano Renée Fleming, conductor and pianist André Previn, singer/songwriters Bonnie Raitt, Suzanne Vega and Rosanne Cash, and violinist/composer Mark O'Connor. more...

Theater

Theater production abounds at Harvard, most of it generated by students acting, directing and designing shows in a variety of venues across campus, including the Loeb Drama Center (managed by the American Repertory Theater); the New College and Agassiz theaters (managed by the OFA); and the Adams Pool Theatre (located in and managed by Adams House). The Harvard-Radcliffe Dramatic Club is the main resource for undergraduate theater production, and the OFA supports the work of the HRDC with production subsidies, project grants, technical assistance, box office and marketing services, and more. more...

Performance Venues

In addition to the New College and Agassiz theaters mentioned above, the OFA manages Sanders Theatre, located in Memorial Hall. Not primarily a venue for theater productions, Sanders—Harvard's largest auditorium at 1100 seats—is used as a lecture hall for classes and is home to several undergraduate choir and orchestral groups and also serves as a venue for many professional performance ensembles. more...
