Emily Vides has worked in communications for the Office for the Arts at Harvard since 2007, overseeing the creation and production of various publicity pieces, website content, and as part of the ARTS FIRST team, as well as offering graphics and administrative support to the blog team. Before moving to the Boston area, she lived in Brooklyn, where she received a master's from the Draper Program in Humanities and Social Thought from New York University, and Rome, Italy, where she learned to cook and to speak Italian. She studied Comparative Literature and Spanish and graduated with honors from Bryn Mawr College. In Boston, Emily joined a doo-wop garage band called The Sprained Ankles as one of two back up singers, and though she left the band in 2012, she continues to enjoy the Boston music scene. A proud union member, she has served on the executive board of the Harvard University Clerical and Technical Workers since 2011. She is a founding partner of the Harvard Arts Blog.
