Visiting Artist Workshop with Israel Davis and Salvador Jiménez-Flores

Workshop Description:

In celebration of Salvador Jiménez-Flores' exhibition in Gallery 224 to mark the end of his 2015-2016 residency with the Ceramics Program, Salvador and his former professor, mentor and friend Israel Davis will come together for this one-day workshop. Join us for an in-depth look at utilizing traditional printmaking techniques such as silk-screening onto the ceramic two-dimensional and three-dimensional surface. There will be a hands-on component to the workshop to allow participants to try the techniques first-hand. Colorful and expressive surfaces and lively conversation make this a "must-see" event!

Workshop Description:

Join us for a half-day workshop with Japanese master potter Miraku Kamei XV. The artist will demonstrate his traditional Takatori ware using the wheel and discuss the forms on display at the Pucker Gallery in Boston, MA by both Miraku Kamei XIV and XV.

Visiting Artist Workshop with Justin Rothshank

Workshop Description:

In this workshop, Justin Rothshank will focus on making his own ceramic forms on the wheel. He will then introduce how to transfer imagery onto ceramic work using a laser printer and decal paper. An overview of image preparation, printing decals onto decal paper, transferring decals onto greenware and glazed ware, layering of decals, using commercial decals, and firing temperatures for various types of decals. You will learn how to use and fire decals in all kinds of kilns, and we'll specifically talk about electric kilns and soda kilns.
